Badly damaged in a close encounter with a dwarf star, the "Voyager" TM discovers a planet being torn apart by tremendous volcanic stresses. The planet's primitive inhabitants will surely perish unless the "Voyager" intervenes -- but the Prime Directive forbids them to act.
