Each review within the volume critically surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the volume as a whole. The most significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years are presented using selected examples to illustrate the principles discussed. The coverage is not intended to be an exhaustive summary of the field or include large quantities of data, but should rather be conceptual, concentrating on the methodological thinking that will allow the non-specialist reader to understand the information presented. Contributions also offer an outlook on potential future developments in the field.

This book presents the latest research on the software crowdsourcing approach to develop large and complex software in a cloud-based platform. It develops the fundamental principles, management organization and processes, and a cloud-based infrastructure to support this new software development approach. The book examines a variety of issues in software crowdsourcing processes, including software quality, costs, diversity of solutions, and the competitive nature of crowdsourcing processes. Furthermore, the book outlines a research roadmap of this emerging field, including all the key technology and management issues for the foreseeable future. Crowdsourcing, as demonstrated by Wikipedia and Facebook for online web applications, has shown promising results for a variety of applications, including healthcare, business, gold mining exploration, education, and software development. Software crowdsourcing is emerging as a promising solution to designing, developing and maintaining software. Preliminary software crowdsourcing practices and platforms, including Apple's App Store and TopCoder, demonstrate the advantages of crowdsourcing in terms of software ecosystem expansion and product quality improvement.

    • Does the language we speak affect the way we think? This Element provides a synthesis of contemporary research on the interplay between language and cognition in speakers of two or more languages and examines variables deemed to impact bilingual acquisition and conceptualization of language-specific thinking patterns during L2 learning.

    • This thesis presents the preparation and characterization of spiropyran-functional paper. Such paper was prepared by dip-coating and benzophenone photocrosslinking strategies. The modified paper shows an obvious chromatic response to UV light and metal ions, which can be applied as colorimetric sensors. Meanwhile, the first proof-of-concept application of the modified paper for the control of capillary-driven transportation of water in paper-based microfluidic channel was also investigated.

    • This book focuses on a conjectural class of zeta integrals which arose from a program born in the work of Braverman and Kazhdan around the year 2000, the eventual goal being to prove the analytic continuation and functional equation of automorphic L-functions. Developing a general framework that could accommodate Schwartz spaces and the corresponding zeta integrals, the author establishes a formalism, states desiderata and conjectures, draws implications from these assumptions, and shows how known examples fit into this framework, supporting Sakellaridis' vision of the subject. The collected results, both old and new, and the included extensive bibliography, will be valuable to anyone who wishes to understand this program, and to those who are already working on it and want to overcome certain frequently occurring technical difficulties.

This reference book features 24 chapters authored by experts in various fields of microfungi, covering a wide array of topics. It presents the latest information on developments in the systematics and taxonomy of microfungi, including new techniques developed over the past decade and their applications in research. Following the adoption of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (Melbourne Code) at the Eighteenth International Botanical Congress in July 2011, significant changes in fungal nomenclature and their implications for the taxonomy and naming of microfungi are thoroughly discussed. The initial five chapters clarify confusion surrounding the dual naming system for fungi with sexual and asexual states, offering perspectives on future research directions. The subsequent nine chapters examine the ecological roles of microfungi across various habitats, including air, indoor environments, aquatic systems, marine settings, plants, and soils. The final 13 chapters explore the relationship between microfungi and humans, highlighting both beneficial and harmful aspects, as well as their applications in industries such as food, agriculture, forestry, green technology, pharmaceuticals, and medicine. This work effectively bridges basic mycological research with applied mycology, providing a comprehensive overview of microfungi from multiple perspectives.
