Abbé Pierre ist zweifellos einer der großen Glaubenszeugen unserer Zeit. Nach dem Krieg mobilisierte er als Abgeordneter der Nationalversammlung seine Landsleute, um der Obdachlosigkeit ein Ende zu setzen. Dies führte zu seinem Lebenswerk, der „Emmaus-Bewegung“, die weltweit aktiv ist und den Armen ihre Würde zurückgibt. In seinen Memoiren schildert Abbé Pierre sein bewegtes und abenteuerliches Leben und verdeutlicht den Glauben und die Gotteserfahrung, die seinen unermüdlichen Einsatz antreiben.
