The story follows Anthony James, a 315-pound man grappling with possible schizophrenia after being expelled from college. Rescued by his quirky family, he lives in their basement in Queens, armed with sarcasm and dreams of making horror films. As he navigates odd jobs and encounters a Japanese political prisoner and a loan shark, his life takes a turn when his 13-year-old sister enters a beauty pageant for virgins. This prompts a chaotic road trip south, highlighting the family's eccentric dynamics and Anthony's struggles.
