The Visitors

Set against the backdrop of the 1922 Tutankhamun tomb discovery, the story follows eleven-year-old Lucy, who is sent to Egypt to recover from illness. There, she forms a deep friendship with Frances, the daughter of an American archaeologist. Their bond offers a lens into the excitement and complexities of archaeological pursuits and colonial society. As they navigate childhood and adulthood together, their relationship provides support and joy, but ultimately faces challenges that lead to heartbreak.
