Die Arbeit beschreibt zunächst die Besteuerung von Investmentfonds gemäß dem InvStG seit dem 01.01.2004 und analysiert die effektive Steuerbelastung für verschiedene Investitionsobjekte wie inländische und ausländische Aktien sowie Anleihen und Finanzderivate. Änderungen des InvStG durch das EURLUmsG vom 09.12.2004 sind ebenfalls berücksichtigt. Eine umfangreiche empirische Untersuchung zeigt, dass Steuern die Performance von Investmentfonds erheblich beeinflussen, was bei der Portfoliozusammensetzung beachtet werden sollte. Darauf basierend werden Empfehlungen für Investmentgesellschaften abgeleitet, um steuerliche Effekte bei der Portfoliostrukturierung und -optimierung zu integrieren. Das deutsche Steuersystem wird in den Portfoliooptimierungsansatz von Markowitz eingebunden, und die steuerlichen Effekte beim Einsatz von Finanzderivaten werden analysiert. Abschließend werden die Ergebnisse hinsichtlich der Anreizwirkungen des Investmentsteuerrechts ausgewertet und alternative Besteuerungskonzeptionen auf ihre Entscheidungsneutralität untersucht. Die Arbeit erhielt den Förderpreis des Forums Münchner Betriebswirte e. V.
