The aim of this proceedings is to further explore a number of issues around Hospital Information Systems (HIS). The volume succeeds in bringing together the various disciplines involved in HIS design and development. A few of the issues explored are: major developments in medical care and the role of information; the scope of HIS; perspectives of HIS seen from different disciplines; HIS modelling; and risks and challenges.
