Das Thema Netzwerk und Kirche hat Konjunktur. Sicher ist dies auch durch die Veröffentlichung der fünften Kirchenmitgliedschaftsuntersuchung der EKD (V. KMU) bedingt. Das weite Feld der Netzwerkforschung erweist sich als sehr disparat, kann aber für Theologie und Kirche wie ein Katalysator wirken. Der Auftrag der Kirche, die Kommunikation des Evangeliums, findet vor allem im Nahbereich statt, ohne auf diesen begrenzt zu sein, baut auf Beziehungen, Nähe, Austausch und Zugänglichkeit. Viele Ergebnisse der Netzwerkforschung helfen Gemeinden, Gesamtkirche und Theologie, die enormen gesellschaftlichen Umbrüche zu verstehen und die eigene Praxis zu hinterfragen. Neue Formen der Kommunikation und beziehungsfähige Haltungen können helfen, das Evangelium mit Neugierigen, Konfessionslosen, Distanzierten und Indifferenten zu teilen. Metaphor – Method – Form of Communitarisation] The topic of networking and church is attracting much interest. One of the reasons for this is certainly the publication of the fifth church membership survey of the EKD (V. KMU). The broad field of network research proves to be very disparate, but it can act as an catalyst for theology and church. The mission of the church, the communication of the Gospel, takes place mainly locally without being limited by it. It is building on relationships, neighbourhoods, interchange, and accessibility. Many insights of network research can help congregations, the church, and theology to better understand social change and to challenge their own practice. New forms of communication and corresponding attitudes could help to share the Gospel with people who are curious, distant, indifferent, or non-demoninational.

Region als Gestaltungsgröße hat bisher in der evangelischen Kirche kaum eine Rolle gespielt. Erst jüngst hat sich die Erkenntnis durchgesetzt, dass es einer neuen Bestimmung von Kirche in der jeweiligen Region – gerade auch im Blick auf Mission – bedarf. Der Band des EKD-Zentrums Mission in der Region mit Beiträgen von Theologen, Vertretern aus angrenzenden Wissenschaften und der Gemeindepraxis legt unterschiedliche begriffliche Zugänge zum Thema Region offen und macht die ekklesiologischen Horizonte sichtbar, die sich durch die Region für die Kirche ergeben. Breiten Raum nehmen Beiträge aus der Praxis ein, die einerseits markieren, welche unterschiedlichen Erwartungen auf kirchenleitenden Ebenen an die Region gestellt werden. Andererseits werden Good-Practice-Beispiele und Rahmenbedingungen einer gelingenden Regionalentwicklung im kirchlichen Raum vorgestellt.[Region – a Scope for Acting of the Church. Definitions, Ecclesiological Horizons, Practical Experiences]Region as a particular scope for acting has so far rarely been considered by the Protestant Church. Only recently it has been realised in church circles that there is need for new definitions of church in regard to different regions respectively. The publication of the EKD-Zentrum Mission in der Region (EKD-Centre Mission in the Region) includes contributions by theologians and by representatives of adjacent areas of science and of congregational practice. It presents different conceptual approaches to the topic “region” displaying the ecclesiological horizons which by means of the region are opened for the church. Particular focus has been placed on contributions from praxis which show the different expectations by the church governing levels towards the region. In addition Good Practice Examples and general conditions of a successful regional development in the Church sphere are presented.
