"This book takes aim to embrace, support, and develop productive struggle in mathematics. It provides five specific actions as part of a game plan that enables all K-12 mathematics teachers and leaders to help their learners struggle productively and persevere to success. The book is organized around these core actions, each framed as a chapter. The actions are: value productive struggle; build identity and classroom community to support productive struggle; plan for productive struggle; support struggle in the moment to keep it productive; reflect on struggle"--

    • In this remarkable book, John SanGiovanni reminds us that mathematical mistakes are not random, and when we take the time to mine the gap, we can dispel misunderstandings before they take root.
