Dieses Buch ist erstmals 1786 auf Lateinisch erschienen.Die Jahreszahl von 1599 ist sicherlich nicht authentisch, auch John Dee hat es wohl eher nicht geschrieben – aber sicher diente er als Inspirationsquelle.Der Schreiber orientiert sich an vorhandener Literatur wie das Grimoirium Verum oder den magischen Moses Büchern.Vor uns liegt ein liebevoll gestaltetes okkultes Werk, welches seinen eigenen Wunderkosmos aufbaut.Der Autor strukturiert sein Werk sehr systematisch. Einleitend beginnt er klassisch mit einer Geschichte, wie er in Besitz des Buches gelangt ist. Dann beginnt der eigentliche Teil mit den neun Intelligenzen unter dem Merkur. Er baut ein komplettes Ritual mit Kreis, Zauberstab, Amulett und Siegel auf. Diesem Schema folgt er auch bei den weiteren sieben Fürsten unter dem Merkur. Darauf folgen drei Partitionen, die unter Umständen aus anderen Büchern stammen, bzw. inspiriert sind. Eine Sammlung von jeweils sieben Beschwörungen, Hausmitteln und Amuletten.Ein einheitliches Stück Zaubergeschichte in typischer Gestalt alter Grimoires.

Die »Hieroglyphische Monade« ist eine Abhandlung aus dem Jahre 1564 auf Latein, die in Antwerpen veröffentlicht wurde. John Dee erläutert seine »Hieroglyphische Monade« in 24 Lehrsätzen, wobei alles von einem mehrfachen Sinn unterlegt ist. Selbst die Zahl 24 hat einen physischen (24 Karat für reines Gold), zeitlichen (24 Stunden des Tages) und biblischen (24 Älteste) Sinn. In der symbolischen Darstellung der Hieroglyphe finden sich die sieben damals bekannten Planeten der Astrologie, die vier Elemente der Alchemie und u. a. römische Zahlen und griechische Buchstaben wieder.
