Harry Wu war ein chinesischer Menschenrechtsaktivist, der 19 Jahre in chinesischen Arbeitslagern verbrachte. Nach seiner Umsiedlung in die Vereinigten Staaten gründete er 1992 die Laogai Research Foundation. Seine Arbeit konzentriert sich auf die Aufdeckung und Dokumentation der Gräueltaten repressiver Systeme.
