Die von der Systematischen Theologie nachdrücklich herausgearbeitete Bedeutung des Beziehungsbegriffs für die Gotteslehre wie für die Anthropologie ist bereits den alt- und neutestamentlichen Texten inhärent. In gesamttheologischem Interesse widmen sich die Beiträge einer Bochumer Tagung dem Dialog zwischen einer relational verfassten Dogmatik und der Exegese bzw. Hermeneutik biblischer Texte. Dies geschieht unter den Leitfragen: Welche Bedeutung hat ein relationaler Erkenntnishorizont für die exegetischen Disziplinen und für die Systematische Theologie? Eröffnet das relationale Verständnis biblischer Texte die Möglichkeit, deren Pluralität und Uneinheitlichkeit besser zu verstehen? Was ergibt sich für die Aufgaben einer theologischen Enzyklopädie? Mit Beiträgen von Walter Bührer, Jan Dietrich, Wilfried Härle, Friedhelm Hartenstein, Ernstpeter Maurer, Raphaela J. Meyer zu Hörste-Bührer, Markus Mühling, Volker Rabens und Emmanuel L. Rehfeld. [Relational Horizons of Cognition in Exegesis and Systematic Theology] Relationality – in God himself and in humanity as well –, recently acknowledged as a basic concept of Systematic Theology, is already inherent in Old and New Testament texts. Seen from the perspective of Theology as a whole, however, the question remains whether a relational Dogmatics, in dialogue with the exegetical disciplines, is able to develop a Hermeneutics that is faithful to the biblical texts. This collection of papers, presented by scholars of the aforementioned disciplines at a Conference at Bochum University, outlines questions such as: What relevance can be attributed to the relational model in the exegetical disciplines and Systematic Theology, respectively? Do relational models provide a missing link that enables a more productive and mutual reception of Systematic Theology and Biblical Studies of each other? Are sameness and plurality compatible with one another?

Walter Bührer investigates the methodological presuppositions for a relative-dating of Old Testament texts. With Gen 1–3 a test case he works with one of the most important texts in classical pentateuchal scholarship. Recent European scholarship tends more and more to post-date the non-priestly Eden narrative through comparison with priestly, deuteronomic-deuteronomistic and late wisdom texts. Bührer, however, argues for a pre-priestly date of Gen 2–3 due to the lack of clear textual references to priestly texts. Furthermore, an influence of Gen 2–3 through deuteronomic-deuteronomistic and late wisdom texts cannot be proven. In fact, the often used lexical comparisons are not as conclusive as they are often claimed to be.

Die Arbeit verfolgt - am Beispiel Zürichs - den Niedergang des Solddienstes im 18. Jahrhundert angesichts sich wandelnder wirtschaft- licher und sozialer Verhältnisse. Namentlich wird jenen Kräften nachgegangen, die dem Fremdendienst - trotz sinkender Gewinne - das «Überleben» bis hin zu den Umwälzungen im Gefolge der Französischen Revolution ermöglicht haben.
