John Thomson Bücher

John Thomson war ein wegweisender schottischer Fotograf, Geograf und Reisender, der als einer der Ersten in den Fernen Osten reiste. Seine Arbeit unter den Straßenmenschen Londons wurde zu einem klassischen Beispiel sozialer Dokumentarfotografie, die den Grundstein für den Fotojournalismus legte. Thomson, der die Menschen, Landschaften und Artefakte östlicher Kulturen dokumentierte, wurde später zu einem Porträtfotografen der High Society in Mayfair und erhielt 1881 das königliche Siegel.
