Über den Meisterfotograf Martin HM Schreiber: Der international gefeierte Fotograf Martin HM Schreiber wurde 1946 in Prag geboren und wanderte 1952 in die Vereinigten Staaten aus. 1960 schloss er sich der U. S.-Armee an und besuchte deren Fotolaborschule. Nach dem Wehrdienst machte er die Fotografie zum Hauptberuf und unterrichtete und hielt Vorträge an zwei angesehenen Institutionen in New York: The School of Visual Arts und The New School/Parsons. Später kehrte er zu seinen europäischen Wurzeln zurück und lebt heute in Frankreich, außerhalb von Paris. Seine Werke wurden bisher in sämtlichen maßgeblichen internationalen Zeitungen und Zeitschriften veröffentlicht sowie in mehr als 80 Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt. Darüber hinaus gibt es inzwischen 14 Bücher über bzw. mit seinen Fotos.

Schreiber first published Last of a Breed in 1982, with many of his images being prototypical classic photographs, widely admired and collected by conniseurs of cowboy culture. In the interim period, he continued to develop his love for the western lore and add to his selection of photographs. This second, revised edition of the book is completely re-edited and redesigned, with more than half of the images in the book being new, previously unpublished scenes.
