Excavations conducted from 1973 to 2008 on the terrain of the former monastery of Ihlow, deserted after 1529, were the first ones in Eastern Frisia to be carried out in the quest for answers to concrete questions raised by historians. Ihlow is situated on a geest island near Ludwigsdorf some 8 km south-south-west of Aurich. This volume deals with the archaeological topography of Ihlow [Schwarz], the Early and High Medieval settlement on Dachsberg [“Badger’s Hill”, Schwarz], with bent oak timbers found on the Dachsberg that were identified as ship frames re-used as supports of a floor [Ellmers], and with archaeological excavations of 1973-2006 during which the brick church built after A. D. 1270, the cloister, some graves, the hydraulic installations, and the building material were documented and analysed [Brüggler]. Additional themes are palynological research in the area of the monastery [Bittmann], thirteen skeletons from the minster and their anthropological analysis [Burkhardt], excavations in the cloister carried out in 2006-2008 [Thiemann] as well as the history and the significance of the monastery of Ihlow-Meerhusen [van Lengen].

An Integrated Approach with Python and Stata

      5,0(1)Abgeben

Bootstrapping is a conceptually simple statistical technique to increase the quality of estimates, conduct robustness checks and compute standard errors for virtually any statistic. This book provides an intelligible and compact introduction for students, scientists and practitioners. It not only gives a clear explanation of the underlying concepts but also demonstrates the application of bootstrapping using Python and Stata.

      A Really Short Introduction

Stata is a widely used statistical software suitable for users ranging from beginners to seasoned professionals. This book provides a clear introduction to Stata's usage and workflow, covering key topics such as importing and managing datasets, data cleaning and preparation, variable creation and manipulation, and generating descriptive statistics and graphs. It also delves into essential quantitative methods, including linear (OLS) and binary logistic regressions, along with matching techniques. To ensure the validity of results, it includes information on diagnostic tests that meet academic standards. Users will learn how to export results for use in popular software like Microsoft Word, aiding in seminar papers and publications. Additionally, the book offers a concise introduction to scientific writing, guiding readers through creating their first quantitative seminar paper or research report. Emphasizing correct software usage and a productive workflow, it addresses replicability and academic writing standards. Beginners will appreciate the user-friendly point-and-click interface, while experienced users can explore do-files and syntax that enhance Stata's functionality. The book also introduces a variety of user-contributed software ("Ados") that improves workflow and ensures access to advanced statistical methods.
