The Federal Republic of Germany

The volume is based on a conference staged by the Embassy of the Federal Republic, the German Academic Exchange Service and the Goethe Institute marking the 40th anniversay of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1989. It brings together leading politicians and academics to evaluate the development of key policy fields and cultural trends since 1949. Areas covered include economic, social and cultural policy, education, Germany and Europe, literature and language.
