Adolf Glassbrenner's short-lived literary journal, Berliner Don Quixote (1832-1833), provides an intimate portrait of a city on the verge of modernity. The journal is treated as a cultural document, and the basic themes and concerns of middle-class life in this Prussian capital are identified.
