Taking the opportunity of Friedrich Schorlemmer's (Evangelische Akadamia, Wittenberg) stint as Visiting Writer at Keele University in 1995, scholars of German culture and society held a symposium there on his role and that of other writers, the church, and citizens' movements in the transformation of East Germany both before and after reunification.
