Wen Yiduo (1899-1946) is one of the most outstanding poets and intellectual representatives of the May Forth Era as well as one of the most interesting scholars, who's contributions to the understanding of traditional Chinese literature and philosophy are, in many aspects, still to be discovered. This book is a collection of the lectures delivered during the conference Poet Scholar Patriot: International Symposium in Honour of Wen Yiduo's 100th Anniversary, held at the University of Tuebingen, Germany, May 19 to May 21, in 2000. Outstanding scholars from all over the world opened themselves to an interdisciplinary dialogue unusual even within the field of Sinology, in order to give a deeper understanding of the mutual inner-connections of the wide ranging political, intellectual, creative activities of this extraordinary man.
