The embassies have significantly shaped the urban landscape between Mitte, Tiergarten, and Grunewald, showcasing a wide range of architectural styles from different countries. The revitalization of old embassy buildings and the adaptive reuse of historic Berlin monuments are notable achievements. Scholarly essays provide insights into the history of embassy architecture in Berlin from its inception and the development of the diplomatic quarter during the Third Reich. For the first time, the guide also examines embassy architecture in the GDR and Bonn.
