We are pleased to welcome you to the eleventh edition of the Middleware conference. This year's program showcases the robustness and growth of the Middleware community in response to the rapid evolution of computing technology. Our understanding of middleware has adapted to focus on the most pressing challenges for the present and future. The program features papers from both traditional areas and emerging directions, including cloud computing, social middleware, and transactional memory. Key topics such as publish-subscribe, multicast, reliability, legacy, location-awareness, trust, and security remain prominent, reflecting the dynamic role middleware plays in developing current software systems. The competitive selection process is evident, with 18 out of 116 submitted papers accepted for regular publication. Additionally, this edition introduces a new category of “Big Ideas Papers,” highlighting bold concepts that could drive long-term innovation; we selected one such paper this year. Our industrial track presents papers that explore middleware foundations in industrial practice. The conference also includes multiple workshops and a doctoral symposium, making it a valuable event for students, faculty, researchers, and practitioners alike.
