In December 2012, a group of scholars convened in Münster to share their studies on the rich history and culture of medieval Cyprus, with most papers from the conference included in this volume. Several contributions focus on the island's political history, covering topics such as the reign of Isaakios Komnenos, the impact of King Peter I's crusade in 1365, and the Ottoman-Venetian war. An overview of the Bullarium Cyprium is also provided. Economic life in medieval Cyprus is explored through three papers discussing the organization and management of monastic estates during the Middle Byzantine period, the island's medieval cane sugar production, and trade among Cyprus, Majorca, and Sardinia. The volume also features studies on a significant ecclesiastical complex from the early 7th century, Cypriot artifacts from the 13th and 14th centuries, luxury metal objects from the Lusignan period, and various elements of 15th-century architecture, shedding light on the material culture of the time. Additionally, a paper examines settlement patterns and the shifting capital of Cyprus from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages. Contributors include Alexander Beihammer, Nicholas Coureas, Peter Edbury, and others.
