The topic “Present Scenarios of Media Production and Engagement” addresses how production, communication, and usage practices evolve in today's media landscape. This volume features contributions from the 2016 European Media and Communication Doctoral Summer School, held in collaboration with the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy. The chapters are organized into four sections: “Scenarios of Convergence and Transmedia Communication,” “Strategies and Transformations of Media and Cultural Industries,” “Politics of Representation in Contemporary Media Discourses,” and “Researching Media and Communication.” The summer school unites highly qualified doctoral students with senior researchers and professors from various European countries, aiming to foster an innovative learning environment. Over fourteen days, participants enhance the quality of their dissertation projects through intercultural and interdisciplinary exchanges and networking. The program goes beyond traditional teaching methods, incorporating group-centered and individual approaches, including personalized discussions of doctoral projects, peer-to-peer feedback, and collaborative book production.
