The story unfolds as Chief Medical Examiner Laurie Montgomery investigates the mysterious death of Gloria Montoya, a pregnant social worker with no apparent cause of death. Partnering with forensic pathology resident Dr. Tricia Albanese, they aim to identify the unborn child's father through DNA analysis. However, the plot thickens when Tricia is murdered under similar circumstances, prompting Laurie and her husband, ME Jack Stapleton, to race against time to unravel the connection between the two cases before another tragedy occurs.
