Jean-Paul Viguier & Associés, founded in 1992 and based in Paris, operates internationally, focusing on architecture, urban planning, landscaping, and interior design. In this exhibition, Viguier presents his manifesto on 'IntenCity', addressing how city planners and architects can responsibly manage the challenges posed by a growing population and the resulting urban density. The manifesto is illustrated through four key frames of reference: 'Historical-Urban Intensity', 'Architectural Intensity', 'Landscape Intensity', and 'Demographic Intensity'. This is showcased through four selected projects: the Espace Claude Monet in Rouen (2012), the Confluence Leisure and Shopping Center in Lyon (2012), the MUSE District in Metz (2018), and the NEO-European District in Brussels (2025). Viguier's challenge lies in addressing the implications of a projected future where, by 2050, 70% of the global population will reside in cities, as forecasted by the Department of Urban Planning and Design at Harvard University. The exhibition begins with Viguier's manifesto, outlining the concept of 'IntenCity' and the guiding principles of his practice. Exhibition: Aedes Architecture Forum, Berlin, Germany (03.05. - 13.06.2019).
