News on Costellariidae (Gastropoda: Muricoidea)

This collection features a variety of new species and notes on gastropods from diverse regions. It includes a rare mitriform gastropod from the Philippines and insights into a collection from the Palau Islands, where two new species are described. Additionally, a new Alisimitra species is identified from French Polynesia. The work also highlights eight new species from Dhofar, Oman, along with observations on Vexillum appelii. Five new Austromitra species are introduced from New Caledonia and South Australia, while two new Austromitra species from Southern Australia and Tasmania are compared to existing ones. Furthermore, seven new Vexillum species are documented from Western Australia, and a new sister species of Vexillum cookorum is recognized from the Philippines. The authors also present six new Volutomitridae species from the Arabian Seas, along with the transfer of two Costellariidae species to Volutomitridae. New taxa include Vexillum alboglobulatum, Vexillum palauense, Alisimitra polynesiensis, and several others, showcasing the rich diversity within the Costellariidae and Volutomitridae families. This work contributes significantly to the understanding of these gastropod groups and their distribution across various marine environments.
