In a crippled B-17 Flying Fortress hurtling towards the earth after a one-sided aerial battle with the cream of the Luftwaffe, Frank Banner, Brigadier General, AAF, shouldn't even have been there. He'd only come along to observe the troubled group's performance as a favour to his friend. Should he somehow survive, he knows capture and interrogation by the feared Gestapo probably await him.
