When Ellen Hampton receives a letter from her sister-in-law in Canada informing her that she is coming home with her daughter and granddaughter for Ellen's wedding, Ellen is mesmerised. Maggie has been away for fifty years and Ellen never dreamt her sister-in-law would ever return. But generosity on the part of their congregation leads to conflict and eventually tragedy. This is a story of greed, crime and betrayal but ultimately one of forgiveness and the promise of happiness.
