Not surprisingly, most of the pictures in Old East Kilbride show the village, rather than the new town, although there are some classic 1960s shots of the brand spanking new shopping centre. Amongst the village pictures are some recognisable landmarks, such as the 'Monty' pub, but probably more interesting are the many buildings that have been swept away, including Kate Dalrymple's picturesque house in Maxwell Street, the village smithy and a brewery that once operated in Main Street.
