When one of her clanmates is stolen by the mysterious Enemy, the young dragon Ameyla takes it upon herself to rescue him. She seeks aid from the Council, an Alliance of Races formed during the devastating War, but it soon becomes apparent that they would rather hinder her than help. Banding together with a ragtag group of creatures, Ameyla sets out for the Enemy's lands, completely unaware that she has been the final stone in an avalanche that may well bring about a new War.
