Focusing on the motivations behind the Reformation, this study posits that the movement was largely fueled by noblemen's desire to seize Church property. Belloc critiques the prominent leaders of the era, instead highlighting the influence of lesser-known figures in shaping the Reformation. Each chapter presents a mini-biography of key individuals, including Anne Boleyn, Pope Clement VII, and Oliver Cromwell, providing insight into their roles and the broader socio-political context of the time.
