Conrad Farrell, a classics major, is drawn to the Marine Corps ethic and enlists after graduation, embarking on a four-year tour in Iraq. Upon returning to his hometown of Katonah, New York, he struggles to reintegrate into civilian life, grappling with the stark contrast between his military experiences and his former life. As he reconnects with loved ones and familiar places, Conrad confronts a growing sense of anger and disillusionment, realizing that his experiences have profoundly changed him.
