Aspects of Enlightenment

Focusing on the concept of enlightenment, this work critiques traditional sociological approaches and vague notions of modernity and postmodernity. It promotes a specific kind of anti-foundationalism to enhance fieldwork in enlightenment studies, illustrated through case studies on scientific, therapeutic, and aesthetic enlightenment. The book explores the role of social sciences in relation to enlightenment and the intellectual's critical ethos, paying homage to thinkers like Michel Foucault and Max Weber as exemplars of this critical perspective.
