The Other Hybrid Archipelago

Focusing on postcolonial literature from the Indian Ocean islands, this work introduces the French language writings of Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion, the Comoros, and the Seychelles to English-speaking readers. It highlights developments since World War II, exploring themes in popular theater and music while situating them within the islands' contemporary social and political landscapes, as well as their colonial legacies.
