The study investigates the force decay of orthodontic power chains, focusing on the differences between thermoplastic (TP) and thermoset (TS) elastomers over an 8-week period. Findings reveal that TP power chains exhibit 20% more force decay than TS chains. Additionally, direct chains show greater force decay than chain loops in TP power chains, while no significant difference is noted between light and heavy initial forces. This research highlights the distinct performance of TP and TS power chains, challenging their interchangeable use in clinical settings.
