Investigations for casting of Al-SiC metal matrix composite

Focusing on the casting of Aluminium-based metal matrix composites (MMC), this work addresses the need for cost-effective manufacturing methods, particularly using vacuum moulding. It introduces a macro-model to analyze micro hardness and dimensional accuracy, employing Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array for parameter relationships. Findings reveal that the hardness of the MMC is significantly influenced by component volume, pouring temperature, and composition. The study also sets the groundwork for future validation through experimental comparisons.
