The Fabulous Clipjoint

Set in 1948, the story follows eighteen-year-old Ed Hunter, who yearns to escape his unhappy home life, dominated by his alcoholic father and a difficult stepfamily. When his father mysteriously disappears, Ed teams up with his Uncle Ambrose, a former carnival worker, to uncover the truth behind his father's death. As they delve into the investigation, Ed discovers the complexities of life and the harsh realities he had previously taken for granted, revealing a deeper understanding of his family and himself.
