Operational Considerations for the Employment of a Light Infantry Division in a Contingency Scenario

Focusing on the operational level considerations for employing a light infantry division in peacetime scenarios, this study addresses the gap in existing literature. It explores the division's creation, unique characteristics, and the factors planners should consider outside of NATO contexts. Historical examples, such as the American interventions in Lebanon (1958) and the Dominican Republic (1965), provide a comparative framework to current strategies. Ultimately, the study links strategic objectives with the effective use of light infantry, summarizing key operational issues.
