It analyzes how innovation practices vary by firm size and industry, with particular emphasis on foreign-owned enterprises due to Canada's significant foreign investment. By comparing Canadian innovation regimes with those from other industrialized nations, it reveals that successful innovators leverage both internal resources and external partnerships to create effective strategies, relying on a diverse range of knowledge sources beyond just R&D.
