A demented genius, Tildey Starling, fifteen, expelled for unknown reasons from the exclusive, ultra modern, Compton Prodigy College in downtown Chicago, moves at the behest of her therapist, Dr. Hornbloom, to the tiny town of Moab Utah to try being a normal girl.
