Art of Storm is a nonfiction narrative detailing the hardships faced by a family of twelve in Cameroon, Central Africa. It begins with their great-grandfather, Montcheukeum, who was abducted as a child by White men seeking slaves. He was taken to America, sold to a wealthy man named Mr. Thomson, and labored there for over thirty years until the abolition of slavery. Upon returning to Cameroon, Montcheukeum settled in his village of Baletet, married, and had three children, one of whom was the author's grandfather. He passed away twenty-five years later, fulfilled by his dream of returning to his homeland. The family's struggles intensified with the sudden death of the author's mother, leaving behind a newborn and nine other children. As the granddaughter of Montcheukeum, her death marked the beginning of a tumultuous period for the family. The second son embarked on an adventure to rescue his siblings from their hardships. After years of silence, a letter from America brought joy to the family, revealing that their brother had survived and made it to America. The author eventually joined him, believing that her journey to America would end her struggles. However, she faced numerous challenges as an immigrant, including cultural shock, language barriers, and bullying in school. As a native French speaker, she struggled to communicate effectively. Despite these obstacles, she persevered, eventually becoming a green-card holder
