Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) is a world-famous author, best known for his literary nonsense novels Alice in Wonderland and its sequel. He also wrote numerous poems and several other works which were popular during his time. Today he is considered one of the best authors in the world. Nejznámnější dílo matematika, logika a učence Lewise Carrolla vypráví příběh zvídavé dívky Alenky, která se rozhodla pronásledovat neobyčejného králíka s hodinkami. Skokem do králičí nory se začne rozvíjet příběh plný podivuhodností a fantazijních zápletek, jimž není konce díky obyvatelům podzemní říše. Alenka se zde setká se šklebivou kočkou, dostane se do portrhlé Čajové společnosti, zahraje si krokem se srdcovým králem a královnou a prožije spoustu dalších neuvěřitelných dobrodružství.

Alenka v říši divů je dílo anglického matematika a logika Lewise Carrolla, který ji údajně napsal pro malou holčičku Alici Liddellovou. Dílu se dostalo vědecké interpretace a bylo označeno za mimořádné. Sama hlavní postava, neustále ohromená Alenka v bezděčných reakcích na imaginativní svět plný podivuhodných věcí a událostí, Carrollův um logicky svázat absurdum světa v celé šíři a líčená přirozenost i znalost dětského chování, zaručili dílu světové uznání a přerod v klasiku. Toto vydání obsahuje tzv. přívazek. Jsou to totiž dvě knihy v jedné vazbě (136 str. a 154 str.) a původně zřejmě měly vycházet zvlášť.
