Towards appropriate tourism

Scientists from developed and developing countries, with varying backgrounds, have contributed to this anthology to outline the costs and benefits of different types of tourism in developing countries, to unravel the methodological problems encountered in evaluating its impacts, and to try to develop a shared vision of what should in a third world setting constitute sustainable or appropriate tourism.
