This introductory handbook is designed to acquaint the vascular surgeon who has little or no experience with basic endovascular equipment and techniques. It includes a description of the available vascular catheters, sheaths, guidewires, balloons, stents and vena cava filters along with their functions and limitations. Additional chapters describe the available intravascular imaging equipment and techniques to perform endovascular procedures. The outlined form of the text and the illustrations in this handbook offer the vascular surgeon a ‘cookbook’, step-by-step description of each procedure. Furthermore, the book provides guidance to start and conduct an endovascular surgery practice. This handbook should appeal to vascular residents, vascular surgeons in practice who have little experience with endovascular procedures, and perhaps experienced endovascular surgeons looking for a simple guideline to refresh their skills.
