Challenges for child and youth care

This book is not supposed to be just another collection of scholarly articles, although we believe it will certainly be a valuable contribution to the developing field of child and youth care or, in its German term, 'social pedagogy.' Beyond this stated goal, it is important to point out that the book is one of the products of a fruitful dialogue between Israeli and German child and youth care workers, organised by EFSHAR (the Israeli Association for the Development of Social Education) and IGfH (Internationale Gesellschaft für erzieherische Hilfen; FICE Germany) with generous support of the Peretz Naphtali Foundation. Most of the papers in the book are independent contributions held on two seminars in Israel and Germany during 2007/2008 and organised for this book.
