In the scope of the present thesis the investigation of reduction of iron bearing materials mixed with nut coke was performed and compared to that without nut coke participation. The reduction parameters were selected to simulate the reaction conditions in the blast furnace shaft. The reduction carried out under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions using different experimental reduction sets supported by on-line gas analyser. Simultaneous differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) were carried out to follow the heat pattern accompanied the reduction processes. Reflected light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray technique, and pore size analyser were used to investigate the microstructure and the different phases developed in the applied and reduced materials. Mathematical model equations were tested against the experimental results to follow up the rate controlling mechanism.
