In the case of conventional interference fits, it is not possible to use brittle material for the hub. In general, the pressure peaks at the hub edge cause the failure of the hub by cracking or breaking as soon as they are joined. The aim of the investigations is the application of contact optimisation to interference fits under bending load. The correction of the contact between shaft and hub, with the purpose of equalising the pressure, allows the application of brittle hubs. The behaviour of pressure homogenized interference fits under bending load has not yet been examined academically.
