Over the past twenty-five years, ecocriticism has emerged as a dynamic field of study, focusing on how concepts of nature, environments, and ecological knowledge are shaped by discursive representations. This volume delves into the cultural, social, ethical, and theoretical challenges related to our understanding of nature and the environment from a literary studies perspective. Centered on Anglophone literatures, it assesses the current state of ecocriticism while exploring literary representations of nature, environment, and ecological knowledge. The essays highlight the historicized and localized connections between nature, culture, and literature, revealing how literary texts envision more sustainable relationships between humans and their nonhuman environments. Collectively, the contributions offer innovative insights into the aesthetic power of literature and the intersections of ecocriticism with postcolonial studies. By presenting a diverse array of perspectives on environments, ethics, and ecocriticism in Anglophone literatures, the volume provides valuable insights for rethinking literature's role in the Anthropocene.
