Hiro Tanaka, trained as a Samurai and dreaming of Philadelphia, jumps ship in Georgia and ends up on a quirky barrier island. There, he faces a series of misunderstandings, including terrifying an islander and evading Immigration Agents, while getting entangled with the enigmatic novelist Ruth Dershowitz.
