Confidence

Set in early April, the story follows Bernard Longueville, a young man captivated by the charm of Italy during his first visit. Despite his social obligations, he finds himself lingering in Siena longer than planned, drawn by the beauty of the Italian spring and his passion for sketching. Staying in a shabby inn, he observes the local scene and encounters two Anglo-Saxon tourists, one of whom piques his interest. The narrative explores themes of contemplation, travel, and the allure of new experiences.
